Alginate Application in Textile
Textile and Printing
Alginates, having become an important auxiliary for reactive dyes, are used as thickeners for the paste containing the dye in textile and printing industry. Many of the routine thickeners react with reactive dyes which lead to the lowing of color yields. Sometime the by-product is not easily washed out.
Alginates do not react with dyes and are easily washed out from the finished textile. Textile processed by alginates has a more colorful and distinct design. The color yield is much higher than that processed by traditional thickener. All of these reasons make alginate the best paste of modern textile and printing industry and widely used in printing of cotton, silk, wool, nylon and other textile products.
This type of alginates is supposed to have a viscosity vary from media viscosity to high viscosity. Usually, blended alginate with stuffing is more attractive for lower cost.
