Application
Alginate Application in Release Agents
Release Agents
Alginate is insoluble in non-aqueous solvents and poor adhesive of films to many surfaces. That makes alginate widely used as mould release agents, originally for plaster moulds and later in the forming of fibre glass plastics. Films of calcium alginate, formed in situ on a paper, have been used to separate decorative laminates after they have been formed in a hot-pressing system.
